Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I refer a patient to Accord?

You can refer by fax, e-prescribe, or through our online referral form. Include the prescription, patient demographics, diagnosis code, and any relevant clinical notes. Our team confirms receipt within one business day and contacts the patient directly to begin enrollment.

What information should I include with a referral?

A complete referral includes: patient name and date of birth, contact information, insurance information, the prescription with diagnosis code, prescriber NPI and DEA numbers, and any prior authorization documentation you have already obtained. The more complete the referral, the faster we can get the patient started.

How does Accord support prior authorization?

Our pharmacists assist with the PA process on your behalf. We gather clinical documentation, submit to the payer, respond to requests for additional information, and file appeals when initial requests are denied. We notify your office of the outcome and keep you informed throughout.

How quickly can a patient start therapy after referral?

Timeline depends on insurance and prior authorization requirements. Once PA is approved and the patient is enrolled in any financial assistance programs, most first fills are processed within 5 to 10 business days. We work to move as fast as the payer allows and will keep your office updated on any delays.

Will my practice receive updates on referred patients?

Yes. Accord communicates referral status, PA outcomes, and enrollment updates to your office. If we encounter clinical questions that require your input, we reach out directly. For ongoing patients, we flag adherence concerns or coverage changes that may affect therapy.

Does Accord dispense limited distribution drugs?

Yes. Accord is contracted to dispense a number of limited distribution drugs across specialty categories including oncology, rare diseases, and pulmonology. Contact our team to confirm whether a specific agent is available through Accord before submitting a referral.
